Am I Being Abused?

Experiencing abuse, or wondering if you are, can be scary and lonely.

At Caring Unlimited we believe you have the right to make your own decisions in your own time.

You are not alone, and you are not to blame.

You have the right to be listened to and heard, and to seek support and resources.

Below are a few questions to consider based on common abusive behaviors and the experiences we hear from victims/ survivors.

  • Does your life feel smaller?

  • Are you unable to see family or friends because of your partner’s jealousy or anger?

  • Do you have to change your behavior to avoid a crisis?

Does your partner:

  • Make you feel like you’re walking on eggshells to keep from upsetting him/ her?

  • Humiliate you with words or actions privately or in front of others?

  • Control household finances with the goal of limiting your access or understanding of those finances?

  • Monitor your actions and/or limit your freedoms such as who you talk to, spend time with, how you dress, etc.?

  • Intimidate or threaten you, and/or make you feel afraid for yourself or others you care about?

  • Use physical force or sexual coercion to control or limit your choices in your relationship?
