Candlelight Vigil Scheduled

Oct 2, 2009
SANFORD, Maine — Caring Unlimited will mark October, Domestic Violence Awareness Month, with a candlelight vigil in Sanford's Central Park at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 7. The vigil will honor the memory of the victims whose lives have been taken by domestic violence, and will celebrate the survivors who have gone on to create peaceful lives for themselves and their families. York County District Attorney Mark Lawrence will address the community during the vigil.

A speak-out will follow the vigil, during which survivors of domestic violence, and community members who have been affected by domestic violence, will be welcomed to share their stories and break the silence surrounding domestic violence. After the vigil and speak-out, all are invited back to Caring Unlimited's Resource Center for a reception.
