Service Enterprise Certification
In 2014 Caring Unlimited became certified by Points of Light as a Service Enterprise. Service Enterprises are nonprofits that excel at working with community members, and using their skills, to accomplish their work.
With this certification, Caring Unlimited became one of the first organizations in the United States, and one of only three organizations in Maine, to be recognized as a Service Enterprise by Points of Light, the world's largest organization dedicated to volunteer service. Research conducted by the TCC Group, a national program and evaluation firm, found that organizations operating as Service Enterprises outperform peer organizations on all aspects of organizational effectiveness, and are more adaptable, sustainable and capable of scaling their work.
In short, the findings of the TCC Group show that Service Enterprises, like Caring Unlimited:
- Are managed extremely efficiently.
- Operate with significantly lower budgets than other agencies.
- Spend less while providing high quality services to their community.
With support from United Way of York County, Caring Unlimited completed an extensive assessment, training/ consulting, and certification process that led to this recognition. By achieving this level of excellence and certification, Caring Unlimited is now better equiped to work with our community to expand our services as we work toward our mission.
Receiving Service Enterprise certification affirms that Caring Unlimited has achieved the highest standards for supporting volunteers while addressing the needs of the community we serve.
