Reflections
Continued...
We are in constant awe of the incredible strength and
courage with which they journey through and out of their
horror.
I am in constant awe, as well, of the generosity, strength,
skill and commitment with which Caring Unlimited staff
stand with these women and children day after day—nurturing,
problem-solving and advocating for them on their hazardous
journeys through abuse to safety and respect. Just as
it is an incredible honor for all of us to witness the
journeys of the people we serve, it is an incredible
honor for me to know and work with their advocates. Thank
you Caring Unlimited staff!
Thank you also to the citizens of York County. You are
a uniquely generous community. You can be counted on
to come through with countless amazing volunteers, financial
support, kitchen tables, beds and blankets, food and
discounted rent, cars and
U-Hauls, mountains of holiday
gifts—whatever is needed to help survivors live
with dignity, free from abuse whenever we ask.
And now, for the first time in our collective memory,
we can ask you to escort a battered woman to get her
children from her abuser at two o-clock on a Sunday morning—even
without a Protection From Abuse Order—signaling
that we just may be on the threshold of a truly coordinated
community response to domestic violence that effectively protects battered women and their children.
Thank you York County!
